The Lead Or Follow Trilogy: I - The Beginning

Current project: The Lead or Follow Lace Scarf, pattern from HeartStrings. I'm using light-blue alpaca wool, a bit too thick I'm afraid. I hope it will be allright after blocking... I don't really like knitting with alpaca wool, but I bought a lot of skeins once and now I'm trying to get rid of them.

Fantastic spring weather today. Made a tour around the lake.

Estonian maple leaf

No, I'm not that productive, I made these mittens last year. The fair isle pattern comes from 'Kirikindad - Patterned Mittens - I'
by Aino Praakli. This pattern is called 'maple-leaf'. I used Drops Alpakka, 2.0 mm needles, lacy cuffs, and 88 sts in total in the round. They fit me perfectly (medium size).

Sunbathing cats, melting snow, loud birds... Spring is definitely coming. The next phase will feature flocks of sheep bleating all night long, freshly polished motorbikes and marching brassbands.

Needle roll

My double-pointed-knitting-needle-caddy. My yarn stash may be a jungle beyond any possible hope of disentangling, but my needles are organized... The caddy is very simple: a strip of knit-and-purl sample stitches with a simple crocheted edging.

(Just found out there are errata for this pattern here)

Humming toes

Another pair of socks... Used Zitron Trekking XXL Ombre 100, 1 skein.

More BTB baby socks

The chevron lace version of Ann Budd's Better-Than-Booties Baby Socks. These came out much bigger than the cabled ones, although I used the same yarn and needles.

BTB baby socks

Tried out Ann Budd's Better-Than-Booties baby sock pattern (free pattern from Interweave Knits) with Drops Alpaca and 2,0 mm needles. Nice short row heel and toe; I never tried this technique before but the end result came out well.

Estonian treasures

I bought these socks and mittens on a local market last summer; they are handmade in Estonia. Every year a delegation of estonian women travels to Norway to sell beautiful traditional handknits. And every year I just want to buy the whole stand...
